Hello there lovelies, I am currently writing from London where I am feeling a bit snackered, a.k.a. tired and trying to avoid jetlag. My flight arrived 90 minutes early so when I got into town my room wasn’t ready. No problem as it is not rainy as the forecast predicted and absolutely gorgeous and so I spent some time on Victoria Street, Piccadilly and Green Park.
Travel means airport time and that means blog reading which I was able to do quite a bit of before I took off. Here are this week’s Saturday Six choices:
[1] She had me at fried chicken. Well that is not true, she had me at the chickens. Jen of Jen X Generation has a fascinating way of pulling at strings and wrapping them into a story. I never get tired of reading about what I think is the “real” Oklahoma City is, not what the office of tourism wants you to see (and I am not saying that is bad) but authentic and unique aspects of a community as seen through a “macro lens” and I love the macro lens!
More than macro I love the color red and that is Jen’s color selection this time around in her color Oklahoma Color Project.
[2] I think one of my greatest strengths (if I do say so myself…) is my ability to walk away. Some might say that I can do it too easily. But I am not a fan of drama and I will not stay in situations that have large doses of it. Nor do I keep people in my life who don’t share the same values. I am not talking about politics or religion, I have plenty of very good friends who are the polar opposite of me, but they have to be good-hearted, kind, positive. I can also easily walk away from situations. I never thought of it as a skill until I read this post from mnmlist by Leo Babauta of Zen Habits.
[3] While I have to say the loss of Patrick Swazye impacted me deeper, I was a big fan of early Whitney Houston and happen to love The Bodyguard. Strangely, my husband and I just re-watched it several weeks ago and I was thinking about the movie after I watched the Valentine’s episode of Glee where Mercedes sang “I Will Always Love You” (she did an amazing job, listen in to the song at the bottom of this post) which they dedicated to Whitney. People always snickered when I said I like the movie, but I did and I am proud to have it in my collection.
I didn’t tune in for any of the media stories or the coverage of the funeral, I wanted to remember Whitney in my own way, but I was touched by a post from Danielle Steel who was at the Clive Barker party the night before the GRAMMYs when the story broke out.
[4] I believe there is a balance in life so despite a sense of sadness in the post above, there is always escape in humor and Wendi Aarons delivers it in spades. Last October Wendi wrote a hilarious post called “why my husband is not talking to me” and this past week was part two of the saga which once again had me in tears. If you need more sassiness then also read “this I believe, at least today.”
[5] I am constantly thinking about my blog. Not because I am obsessed by it, but because despite the fact that it is my creative outlet, I am addicted to change so I am always driven to innovate, try new things, rethink my approach. I have been a daily blogger for so long, but I am mulling over possibly changing that so a post I spotted on The In Between is Mine Friday Link Love, from Puglypixel on sustainable blogging garnered my attention.
[6] I am passionate about food and I am passionate about other people who are passionate about food. One of those peeps is Lindsey of Lost in Cheeseland, if we lived in Paris together we would do a lot of damage! If you want to see an illustration of the level of her dedication to the art of food, check out her post this week on Pozetto ice cream. As I stalk follow Lindsey on Foursquare and Instagram I know she is a frequent visitor so she knows what she is talking about.
[7] Yes I know technically this is Saturday Six, but I could not end this post without including Kristin of Camels & Chocolate and get this, not only can’t I not leave her off but I can’t pick between three posts from this week, so you are getting them all! First is a post on misadventures in celebrity spotting which is hilarious. Plus the photos of the Roosevelt Hotel where I stayed at last year for the Dexter red carpet event reminded me of what a great photo subject that building is.
Next is a post that she wrote because she is attending Blissdom for the first time this year and she wanted to introduce herself. So ironic that the year she goes, I am not going! I was supposed to work the Oscar rehearsals which got shifted to my trip to London, total bummer, I want to meet Kristin in person (although I am in London!). Kristin is one of my favorite bloggers, go over and learn a little bit more about her and I am sure you will love her too.
One of the things I really like about Camels & Chocolate is her photography. As an amateur newbie in this hobby I have a great appreciation for her excellent photos. She shared a post this week that consists of some of her favorite photos, why, how and with what equipment.
That’s it for this week!
How about you? Have any good posts you discovered in your blogosphere journeys that you want to share? How do you discover new blogs?

So funny you mention Pugly Pixel! I’ve been following her since the beginning and I’ve seen the many evolutions and “faces” her site has undergone. Her work really is amazing! and her post on sustainable blogging resonated loud and clear – and I often feel the way she does – wanting to walk away at times.
Thank you for highlighting Kristin’s photos, they’re spectacular!
@Lindsey, she was a new discovery for me, your vote of approval means I will be watching her more closely
I *really* like the Pugly Pixel post because it speaks volumes to me and where I am at right now.
Thank you mucho for that one!
I just discovered a new (to me) Paris blogger this past week via Yelp. What attracted me was not only the fact that she is from Denver, but also that she has a very pretty blog with good information and fun photos. She’s here: http://dequelleplaneteestu.com
Happy blog reading & writing, Andi.
xx
Karin
@Karin, she is a new discovery for me, but I certainly like her voice. And thanks for the new blog read, you know I am hopelessly addicted to finding new blogs to read, heading over there now!
I find new blogs through other creative bloggers like YOU! Thanks for these tips. I’ve been down and out with a cold/flu for weeks and desperately need some new reading material. Happy travels in London.
Love the posts that you chose! Btw, I’m a big fan of Bodyguard.
@Amy, I hope you feel better, when I am home sick I like to read blogs as well, more than when I am feeling well!
@Andi, thanks and of course you do, you are a romantic!
You are too sweet. And one of my blog dreams is you, me, Lindsey in a cafe in Paris with our cameras and a baguette for you, a macaron for me (since I know how you feel about those!).
@Kristin, that sounds lovely! You’re on!
Oh man – these all look like amazing posts. I will visit at least some of them (I am way behind on my blog reading – I need some airport time).
@Jennie, thanks, you are going on a trip soon, will it involve airport time?
