Saturday Six #11

These past weeks are flying by without being seen! I have not watched any Olympics. I did not see the Tiger Woods press conference.  Life is a blur at the moment.  I see no end in sight for the foreseeable future and must make the most of any moment of down time.

That seems to be the 20 minutes on BART on the way to and from work that I am reading the second book by Stieg Larsson called The Girl Who Played with Fire. It is the follow-up to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Vintage) and it is an excellent read!  My pal Julie of Writing Roads is doing the social media for the American movie release and I cannot wait to see what that campaign entails.

I can’t wait to see the movie either.  March is going to be a big movie month with that and Remember Me.  New Moon comes out on DVD as well. More things to make time for!  Life is full of so many wonderful things to do, see, eat, never a dull moment.

And that very topic leads me into this week’s Saturday Six choices.

[1] Leo of the famous Zen Habits wrote a great post called Completion Principles where he provided tips that make ideas, projects, initiatives more achievable by keeping things simple.  Complexity add slowness that often impacts time to market.  And that is not strictly in business terms, but for life in general.  Placing complex obstacles in front of you makes things less achievable. It’s a good reminder that we sometimes need to step back from what we believe to be a complicated situation, take a breath and then try to find the spot where we can affect change one piece at a time.

[2] I often say that women are women’s worst enemy.  I do not have a large group of friends, but rather find myself appreciating more quality relationships over quantity.  And let’s face it.  Women can come with a lot of baggage.  But from time to time the generosity and friendship of women can surprise me, and it seems that it has surprised Spudballoo as well. In “The Female of The Species” she talks about how amazing “women together, onside, supportive and loving are a world changing powerhouse.”

[3] I know one of my pal JenX67‘s favorite reads is The Art of Nonconformity, and honestly I admire Chris Guillebeau’s life as a nomadic traveler.  Who better to get travel tips from?  And this week in “Tips for Stress Free Travel” there was extremely useful advice.  These days remaining stress-free while travel is an art-form, but in reality it is also a survival skill.

[4] Carolyn of Hang on Little Tomato has given up meat and in doing so she is questioning her status as a foodie.  I absolutely love this soul-searching post (ok, for me wondering about food IS soul-searching!) called “Eating Animals Part 2 Foodie Debate.” P.S. Carolyn, my vote is that you are still a foodie.

[5] As an add-on to my post this week called “Finding blog topics” I would like to propose additional reading from SocMedia 101 who published a post called “How to find top blogs.“  It gives great places to find blogs covering the topics you are most interested or want to emulate.

[6] This is a total cheat because I am actually sharing 3 posts, but when it comes to Paris, I just can’t help it!   Kasia of Love in The City of Lights wrote a wonderful post covering her Life in Paris Top 10 and I have to say, “ditto!”  The team at HiP Paris are following blogger Kari Geltemeyer on her first trip to Paris. It is true what they say, it is intriguing to observe someone’s first impressions of my favorite city. And finally Lynn of Paris Hotel Boutique Blog who spends time between San Francisco and Paris wrote a beautiful post for a Blog-It-Forward series on “What Inspires Me” which pulls in some of the French influences on San Francisco, it is such beautiful eye candy!

Well that’s it for this week. Got any posts you want to share from the last week?  Please do!
