When you are living in France for a year... you start to forget which is your culture. That is the problem and the glory of it.

I absolutely adore Latin culture! I really admire how the women exude this innate sexiness. It's like they don't even have to try, they are just simply sexy!

You mean like when Madonna had that funny British accent? Or something a bit more genuine than that?

I always dream of taking on the practice of the siesta...but then I work thru siesta time.

I recently found your blog and am loving it!
I see nothing wrong with taking what you like from other cultures and making it your own! My husband is European and has family in Greece and the U.K. so we mix traditions from both. We love the idea of having our big meal at lunch and taking a siesta in the afternoons. (When we can.) Also, Greek food is a regular part of our lives.
When I was a foreign exchange student in Wales, I got used to having a nice, hot cup of tea every day (with milk in it!) and have had it ever since. (Although now I use soy milk.)
I teach a lot of Asian students so I'm finding out new customs from them all the time. One that we have taken aboard is the changing shoes thing. We bought a "cubby bench" and put our outside shoes in it as soon as we walk in the door, and change into our inside shoes. It just makes sense to not track outside dirt all over the house!
Keep it up! I am learning about French cooking via Julia Child these days and I have to say: when it comes to enjoying food while having joie de vivre, the French have it all figured out!
