It’s been awhile since I have done a Saturday Six, but I actually had time to read some blog posts this week, so here I am with Edition #7.
[1] Laurie at You Must Take Your Chance wrote a very poignant piece on life being a tapestry. She “weaves” in other themes in her post such as Haiti and biology, but it all works, trust me.
[2] I loved this post by Lindsey over at Lost in Cheeseland. In “saying goodbye to milk and cookies notion of home” she explores what it is like to be an expat and the struggles of figuring out where home is, and what home means. It is like belonging to two worlds and sometimes not belonging in either. I went through the experience of leaving friends when I moved to Europe and then being unable to connect with some of them when I returned. As well as the reverse, people I was friends with in Europe, but who I could no longer relate to upon my return. It’s not every one, but you kind of learn to find your tribe who typically are other expats or travelers. It is a weird thing and I love how Lindsey tries to captures the phenomena.
[3] Julochka of Moments of Perfect Clarity wrote a beautiful post on “seeing things.” In which “through the eye of others” you can re-discover what is often right in front of your face. Or things you see every day but don’t really notice. The accompanying photos are lovely.
[4] Agnes of Agnes’ Pages celebrates her first blogoversary by reflecting on the changes that have happened around her and the actions that caused her to own the changes, rather than let change happen to her passively. It is a really beautiful piece with absolute must-read advice on how to approach life. “Blog like no one’s reading” is inspiring.
[5] My pal Julie of Writing Roads is going through a tough time. When people go through tough times, it is a real test of those around you. You find out real quick who is “butter versus margarine.” Apparently I am butter, French of course!
These were all rather serious, kind of melancholy posts, so I am ending it with something a little different.
[6] David Lebovitz, ex-Berkelian who cooked under Alice Waters of Chez Panisse fame, lives and works in Paris. He wrote a great post called “10 Common Ordering Mistakes People Make in Paris” and I wish I wrote it. It is all good stuff!
That’s it for this week, really good posts written by some seriously talented bloggers.
Thanks for playing along! Got any posts you want to share from the last week? Please do!

thank you for your kind words about my post (and my photos).
i’m definitely off to check out the lost in cheeseland post…several of my blog peeps wrote about that last year at this time and, even after ten years outside of the country of my birth, it’s still something i think about…maybe the dismal, cold winter months just get us longing for home on some soul level…
