Day 11 Giveaway: Fleur de Lys pendant

by Andi on December 11, 2009

Day 11In honor of French Friday, today’s giveaway has a French theme. In June I won a contest on My French Corner – the question was easy – what would I do with $1000 in Paris – I said spend it all on dinner at Georges V (even though that would not cover the whole meal) – what else is a foodie going to do?

fleur-de-lys-pendant

I was selected as a winner and received two French themed pendants from Etsy.  One is the Eiffel Tower, very pretty.  And the other is a Fleur de Lys pendant (on a scrabble piece – how clever).  I love Fleur de Lys, but it is pink, which is really not my thing.  So forgive me AnnecyChic, I am re-gifting because it is still sitting in the cute little bag I received it in, and I know I am never going to wear it.

To enter leave a comment about what you would do with $1000 for a day in Paris (I love that question).  Extra entry if you tweet this post, just leave me the tweet url.  (Need help?)

You have until Friday, December 18 midnight PST to enter.  Please note that I will not be able to announce the winner for this giveaway until I return on January 1, I will be announcing the winners for Days 11-17 then!

Bonne chance!  (Good luck!)

I would use it on picnic supplies including really good wine and the best cheeses, breads and accompaniments. I would keep the extra in my pockets as I meandered up and down the streets soaking up the atmosphere just to spend on little bits that I would see along the way that would make good gifts for friends and family or for a stop for coffee and pastry when the mood struck me.

jen December 11, 2009 at 8:53 pm

i’d pay french women to tell me how to dress.

Lydie December 12, 2009 at 12:00 am

I love to cook so I would take a private cooking lesson with a French chef to learn more tricks!

Annecychic December 12, 2009 at 7:59 am

Love the 17 Days of Christmas Giveaway idea–you are so clever! And no worries about the re-gifting!

Jeanne @ Inspiring Ideas December 14, 2009 at 9:06 pm

I would totally go to THE Flea Market and buy a timeless souvenir … then stuff my suitcase with chocolate croissants!

Jen F December 15, 2009 at 8:41 am

I would eat dinner on the eiffel tower like I did when I was 16…spend some time in Musee D’orsay. ooh, lala!

Mary Beth December 15, 2009 at 9:15 am

I would spend it traveling around the city – by taxi, by barge, by anything moving:) – and soak in as much as possible.

jullee December 15, 2009 at 9:30 am

I would buy plenty of really fun gifts for myself :) Maybe a treat or 2.

Angela December 15, 2009 at 9:44 am

It’s cliche, but I would shop. And eat a ton of pastries. :P

melissa December 15, 2009 at 9:51 am

Megan M December 15, 2009 at 9:55 am

I’d buy $1000 worth of food and eat it all!

Judy B December 15, 2009 at 11:33 am

Get a super swanky five star hotel room, go out to an amazing meal, get tipsy on all the good wine, go back to said hotel room and take a long hot bubble bath.

Stephanie O'Brien December 15, 2009 at 11:36 am

I would pay my own tour guide to take me to each main site in Paris and fill me up with every fun fact there is to be had.

Sarah Mac December 15, 2009 at 11:40 am

SHOPPING! and EATING!

Woohoo!

Shannon Mathen December 15, 2009 at 11:51 am

I would eat, drink wine, go shopping and take my family to all the amazing sites. My son would love it, it is on his list of places to go!

If I was given $1000 to spend in Paris, my husband and I would eat like pigs!!!!! I love French food, and he loves cheese!!!!!!

ShootingStarsMag December 15, 2009 at 1:07 pm

I would visit the eiffer tower, eat crossaints and lots of great parisian food, take lots of photos, maybe find a cute parisian boy to hang with for a bit, and shop for some fun french items.

Stephanie H. December 15, 2009 at 1:11 pm

Wow! If I had $1000.00 to spend in Paris…I’d most definitely go to the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Coeur (a church set at one of the highest points of the city – great photo op), Avenue des Champs-Elysées, Notre-Dame Cathedral, etc. And, of course, shop and eat!! Makes me want to leave tomorrow!

Maura December 15, 2009 at 1:46 pm

I hate to be so banal, but I’d buy myself something amazing (a purse or some shoes) and then eat a fabulous dinner.

Anabel December 15, 2009 at 2:23 pm

It’s pink but very very nice!!

With $1000 I’d rent a Marie Antoinette dress and visit every place in Paris dressed like that.
:)

Amanda December 15, 2009 at 2:29 pm

Can we say shoes, anyone??? A pair of really hot french designer heels:)

Fay. H. December 15, 2009 at 2:31 pm

I would hire a tour guide or get a really really good map and travel all around Paris, try out the food, take lots of pictures of the scenery, and do loads of shopping!

Anmarie December 15, 2009 at 2:43 pm

OMG! So many things that I would like to do. Visit the Louvre. Boat on the Seine. Buy fine clothes, eat fine food and drink fine wine!

Heather December 15, 2009 at 8:58 pm

hotel with a view of the Eiffel Tower, days at the Louvre, fantastic meals everywhere & more wine than any woman really needs to drink!

I think I’ll start with the wine in case it doesn’t cover everything… :)

sarah December 15, 2009 at 9:32 pm

and that is a CUTE necklace!!

Sarah December 15, 2009 at 11:32 pm

Easy – breakfast, lunch and dinner with Guy Savoy – the best chef in Paris.

Teal December 16, 2009 at 8:09 am

Use it to get my mom there to join me!

Connie Bryant December 16, 2009 at 8:40 am

Hi! I would shop at the finest stores…probably would get me a fancy cocktail dress and eat at a great restaurant. If I have any money left, go to a nice little bistro for coffee. :)

I love this giveaway!!!

Sharon OBrien December 16, 2009 at 9:51 am

With $1000, I would rent a Bateaux Mouches for an evening and my boyfriend and I would take a private cruise down the Seine. Did this in October (with a load of other people on the boat of course) and it was just so beautiful…. would love to have the whole thing to ourselves, bottle of wine, gorgrous lit views from the open top deck….

Robin December 16, 2009 at 12:01 pm

With $1000….in Paris….I’d go shoe shopping :)

Robin December 16, 2009 at 12:03 pm
angela December 16, 2009 at 12:25 pm

beautiful!

Larraine December 16, 2009 at 3:08 pm

With my $1000 in hand, my visit to Paris would be short but sweet: a collection of LeCreuset cooking pots and several nice meals at small bistros. There might even be enough left over for a Paris snowglobe.

Heidi Kratzke December 16, 2009 at 3:20 pm

I would spend the day with my husband, and ignore all the tourist traps, opting rather to find some quiet, rustic cafe and wine and dine until our hearts content. Then… shopping!

Michelle December 16, 2009 at 8:06 pm

Well… of course I would eat the super yummy breads and cheeses and wines! And I would have to see all the sights! And… I would certainly need to go shopping!!! That $1000 might not last too long.

Diane December 16, 2009 at 8:53 pm

I would take that $1000 and head to Les Puces de Saint-Ouen, and buy some vintage French toile de jouey fabric and a fleur-de-lis wall pocket, and maybe I would get lucky and find a great old chandelier, oh and a bistro table! Hmmm, maybe I would need more than $1000 :-)

Ann December 16, 2009 at 10:34 pm

$1000.00 in Paris… Some friends and I would have a wonderful day with a driver, a handsome tour guide, some pastries, a bottle of champagne, fresh fruit and yummy cheeses. We would drive around everywhere…until it was time to go to bed. When I lay my head down at night, I’ll have photos of Paris and wonderful dreams to last a lifetime. What a wonderful day…..

jen December 17, 2009 at 12:02 am

i’d eat yummy pastries and cheeses, then i’d retire to a very expensive hotel room overlooking the eiffel tower.

Heather December 17, 2009 at 10:17 am

For the most wonderful day in Paris I would buy a beautiful black dress to go running around the city in, then go to a wine, cheese, and olive market and sample the best of the best before going to some beautiful museums and exploring the city on foot. The early evening would hold a carriage ride and dinner at a small street cafe before wrapping the day up with kisses under a full moon. (Priceless!) :-) Cheers,

Heather

nfmgirl December 17, 2009 at 11:38 am

I would try to track down my ancestors that still live in France. Hopefully I would speak French or they would speak English! And I’d love to eat at the outdoor cafes/bistros!

Marcus December 17, 2009 at 1:13 pm

I would use the money to purchase a nice, high quality digital camera and spend the day taking as many beautiful photographs as possible.

Jill December 17, 2009 at 6:04 pm

I would have a really expensive French dinner with REAL champagne and visit an exquisite French cafe for coffee and French pastries. I would visit flea markets for vintage treasures and also buy lots of post cards.

Alleen Frankino-Lint December 17, 2009 at 7:04 pm

My father was a phenomenal cook and loved french food. He taught me to cook and started to teach my daughter before he passed. I would absolutely have my daughter with me and spend the day going to all of his favorite restaurants and tasting his favorite specialties made by the great chefs of Paris. I know he would be looking down on us and smiling!!

emc436 December 18, 2009 at 7:44 pm

If I had $1000 to spend in Paris for one day, I would buy myself a very nice oil painting. Something that would remind me of Paris every time I would look at it! Then, I would hang the painting over my fireplace.
