Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending SITScation in Las Vegas. The SITS girls, Heather and Tiffany are smart. They knew others like me would be attending Blog World Expo and decided to attend this one-day blogging conference as well.
Having attended my share of blogging conference this past year: Blissdom, SOBCon, Type-A-Mom, and Blog World Expo – I would have to say that I liked the format of SITScation the best. The majority of the other conferences hold sessions that include mainly panel discussions, and although I have attended some very good panels, I always find I get more value when I can hear a single speaker discuss a single topic. The entire day at SITscation, with the exception of the closing session, were individual speakers focusing on a single topic and it was stellar.
I discovered the SITS community a couple of months back when I saw their badge on one of the blogs I read. I was curious and clicked over to discover a wonderful place.
The concept of SITS (The Secret is in the Sauce) is Support. And support is given via the exercise of leaving comments. Lots of comments. Find out how their system works by reading this post. Basically, there is a daily roll call where you check-in and find out who is the SITS blogger of the day. You visit the selected site and leave comments on their blog and posts they have selected to highlight to showcase their “home.” It is a fun way to discover new blogs and to support others. In addition, on the daily roll call, it is encouraged to visit at least the person who checked in before you if not several others.
I can’t say that every blog I visit is one that I will come back to on a daily basis, but I have discovered a few that I know I may not have found otherwise. One of my favorite finds is Sassy Chica who I got to say hello to in person at SITScation. I am now a daily visitor of her blog and I am thankful to the SITS gals for that!
Heather and Tiffany have found the secret…and it’s juicy.
