Despite my love affair with my coffee machine, I do drink a lot of tea. I have a single espresso in the morning, then a Chai tea on the way to work, and then for the rest of the day I drink tea and water. I mostly drink green tea, but sometimes I mix it up with other types.
I find if I keep a cup of tea in front of me I am less likely to snack, which is a very bad habit that I have. It is one thing that is totally and completely American about me (and therefore non-French). There are so many yummy teas out there and I am constantly exploring to find new and interesting brands.
While living in Europe I fell in love with Mariage Frères, Le Palais des Thés (which they now carry in the U.S. and you can buy online) and Fauchon, specifically their Apple Tea.

The company that my husband and I used to work for had its manufacturing in China in a town called Suzhou which cultivated a wonderful variety of tea called the Rose of Suzhou. Not only is it a wonderful tasting tea, but it is beautiful as well. You can now buy the tea here in the U.S. but that wasn’t always the case and my husband brought home green, black and flower teas when he went on a multitude of business trips.
In the U.S. there is no shortage of great tea companies as well. One wonderful tea that I discovered is carried on Princess Cruises. It is called Revolution Tea. One of the best green-jasmine teas that I have had. My husband likes the Earl Grey-Jasmine one as well. It is one of the silly things we look forward to on the cruises we go on. Hey, if you are a tea, or even a coffee drinker, you know there is nothing worse than to be trapped somewhere for a week or more with bad tea or coffee!
I just found out about a tea company called Golden Moon Tea and I am going to take an opportunity to sample what they have to offer. They have a nice variety of green tea that I am looking forward to exploring. Stay tuned for more on that and how I liked their product.
There is no end to the variety of health benefits that tea offers, so if you are not a tea drinker, you might consider exploring some. It can help with your mood, sleep, weight-loss, your skin, digestion, you name it. I drink a ton of tea, along with a decent diet and I am rarely sick.
I have wonderful tea memories as well. I remember a business trip in Seoul with a colleague who also became a friend. We first started working together when I was in the Swiss office and she was hired in Hong Kong, I helped on-board her and we became fast friends. We worked on a project rolling out our company website into South Korea and spent a couple of weeks in our Seoul office to launch the project.
As we were staying over the weekend, we decided to explore Seoul a bit and had a fantastic time at an absolutely gorgeous museum, called Leeum Museum, located within a residential area. The architecture was breathe-taking, and the museum itself was exceptional. Inside the museum was a cafe in which my colleague and I had a nice break after several hours of visiting. I had the most wonderful green tea latte there. It is almost a shame that the first time I had a green tea latte happened to be the best, because I have never been able to find one that tasted as good. I am convinced that part of that had to do with the company and the environment.
Oh, and don’t get me started on bubble tea…
And now one last note, non-tea related but within the general hot beverage topic…Eggnog Lattes. Sigh. It is that time of the year again, and I absolutely love eggnog lattes. What I don’t love is the calories and fat grams this drink weighs in at. This past weekend I tried making an eggnog latte at home with Silk’s Soy Eggnog, and it was yummy. Not as rich as the real thing, but very tasty. If you like eggnog, and want to partake of it on a daily basis during the holiday season, I suggest trying Silk’s version, or whatever soy milk brand you like, you might find a wonderfully light substitute that won’t have you looking like Santa!
To end, if you are a tea drinker, I’d love to hear what your favorite tea is. Maybe there is one I haven’t tried!

Andi, I love tea. Where did you get those first 2 pictures? They’re absolutely peaceful.
I was wondering SAME thing! ….pic’s beautiful …..going now to make tea ….wonder how I’m going make heart shape?
Thanks for inspiration Andi!
@Jennifer – the first one comes from Tea Forte (http://www.teaforte.com/) – check out their beautiful site! The second is from Red Umbrella Tea (http://www.redumbrella.ca) – I love tea websites – the are gorgeous!
I enjoy tea. I was introduced to all the wonderful flavors from German exchange students visiting us. I don’t remember nearly enough to drink tea, though.
I am a tea drinker. I drink some green teas, but I prefer black tea. I never really developed a taste for coffee. In fact, whenever I go to Starbucks with friends, I am the person who orders tea. They have a really nice Chai Tea Latte. And in the mornings, I drink their Awake tea. It is super strong and they use 2 tea bags. So I am sure I am getting just as much caffine as any cup of coffee.
I also like The Republic of Tea. They have a huge variety of teas to choose from. My favorite is the Ginger Peach and the Blackberry Sage.
@Clarabela – the Chai I drink in the morning is from Starbucks – I love it! I have never seen the Blackberry Sage – blackberries are my favorite fruit, I have to try that one out, it sounds really interesting to combine it with sage.
@Corrie – I have never tried any tea that originates from Germany – what kinds of flavors were they?
I am a tea lover. If there wasn’t tea, I wouldn’t be able to stay hydrated. I hate drinking water (unless I am really, really thirsty).
My favorite tea is Roibush Vanilla… mmh!
I’ve been thinking I needed to start drinking more tea; green tea specifically. So, thanks for the nudge.
In the cold months there is something so nourishing and warming about a gorgeous mug with tea. I’ve never experimented with ‘real’ teas, just using what one might find at the grocery store. So, next week I go on the search for the ‘real’ thing.
It’s funny. I went from hating tea to absolutely loving it. I, too, find that I snack less if I’m sipping on tea throughout the day. Drinking tea has got to be better than stuffing Cheetos in my mouth!
