There's a Bruce Springsteen song that reminds me of an ex, and I don't like to listen to it because of that. Even though it's a pretty catchy song. There are also plenty of songs that I love--because of the memories--but I'm afraid to admit because I don't think it's cool to love them. Like most of the Michael Jackson songs from the Thriller album. LOVE them. And Gloria Gayner's I Will Survive. Was a better song ever written? Also the theme songs to Flashdance and Fame. Those songs make me feel like I can conquer the world. But it's not cool, so I usually listen to them when no one else is around. Silly, huh? The year that Eric Clapton's song, "Tears in Heaven" came out both of my grandmothers passed away, a friend, the mother's of two friends, and my dog. As soon as I hear that song, I instantly think about all of the death that surrounded my life during that year. While it is sad, I appreciate the reminders of the wonderful people that I associate the song with. I always find it amazing when I hear a specific song that evokes a memory or emotional response.
