Still having crazy weeks at work which will continue through out October, so no time for a longer FF post.
I am sad to report that McDonald’s will be moving into a spot in the Carrousel du Louvre, which is an underground shopping center within the Louvre complex. The architecture of this shopping center is very nice and completely in line with the museum. The shops are small, upscale (with the exception of a largish Virgin book store) and discreet.
Putting a McDonald’s in there will kill the ambiance! Ack, it is just gross. It doesn’t fit. It is sad.

Did you know that the McDonald’s on Champs-Elysees Avenue is the most profitable in the world? Yep. I’ve been there once. Went with my family in 1989 when we were visiting for the 200th anniversary of Bastille Day on July 14, or as Julie will have me call it, the day after her birthday. (Not sure what the French would say about that…)
There are McDonald’s through out the city, although it seems that Starbucks is racing them for sheer number of locations, but that is another story. Anyway, they hardly need another location!
Je suis triste (I am sad) about this news.
What do you think?
A bientôt !

Are you kidding me? I’m the only one who’s commiserated on this with you? Where are the riots in the streets?? What an outrage! Les Miserable’ all over again!
Ok, I’m exhausted from all this emotion! Let’s go get a Big Mac.
NOT!
I don’t know how I feel about that one. I’m sure the Louvre has put guidelines in place as to what can and cannot be displayed. We have two “luxary” malls in Chicago and both have a McDonald’s with another only a block away. The thing is that in both the restaurant has a very tasteful exterior and does not deminish the property’s ambiance with their blinding golden arches. I think if done properly they can co-exist. If not I’m sure the outcry will be larger than the demand when a bold and tacky fast food joint rolls in.
Now I have a taste for a double cheeseburger… Dang!
Thumbs down from me
Oh, I didn’t know it !
But I agree with you : that’s not a good new. =/
As it should be called! (July 14th, that is!!!) xox McDonald’s? yuck.
@ Angelica – thanks for the support – you made me laugh!
@Beave – I am so, so, so happy to see you again! I am glad you made it through the wedding madness, maybe life will become normal now
Yup, McDonalds and Starbucks seem to be everywhere, don’t they?
1) Am with you …hideous beyond belief …even more than hunchback.
2) Will never forgive Ex for insisting we eat at a Burger King in Madrid–will never forgive self for allowing it!
3) The first words I spoke to my oldest, when he was only a moment old were “Happy Bastille Day Birthday honey!” Sixteen years later, he was in Nice with his school class on July 14th …
Thanks for keeping us up-to-date on all things frenchy Andi!
Mc Donald’s is taking over the world and doesn’t understand beauty. The red and yellow of the sign just doesn’t fit in ANYWHERE. I agree. Je suis triste.
