Hi Andi...I can tell you are a cat love and love your Jessica :-) She is a pretty girl! Thanks for your comments on our little ferals (I accidentally hit the wrong button and deleted your last comment...sorry!). Yes, they have an appointment to be spayed/neutered and otherwise treated, and I am going to try to get them adopted, as they are quite socialized now, but I cannot have them in the house we are about to sell! We too have raccoons in the yard, and just the other day had to shoo this giant raccoon away from the kittie dishes. Little Curly (have not gotten a good pic of him yet) was within feet of this giant, but they hardly looked at one another. But if the raccoon was really hungry and/or aggressive, there could be a fight for food. I have also been trying to get other neighbors to take some share of responsibility, as the kitties sleep in someone else's yard, but that's been a struggle. I just couldn't let them go hungry, and don't worry, if they don't get adopted I'll make sure they have a warm dry place to sleep this winter :-)

Coyotes can be a serious problem. My mother's previous dog was attacked by one, but survived because mom's boyfriend saw it and scared the coyote off. The vet couldn't believe the dog was so minimally injured.

Raccoons can be pretty nasty too. Same dog one time was going nuts because he say the raccoons in the yard eating from his food dish. Next morning went out and *ahem* "marked" his food dish. Pretty funny and so glad I didn't have to be the one cleaning it out.

But those raccoons came back the next night, mom didn't see them when she let the dog out one last time, and those raccoons beat him up pretty badly. The poor dog was stiff for days.

On a lighter note, you're right. Can't reclaim the chair when the cat is using it.

I live in the San Fernando Valley in the Los Angeles area and coyotes are a really big problem as far as pets are concerned. One of my friends lost 2 cats and a dog to coyotes in broad daylight in her backyard. I used to always see them when I dropped my daughter off at school....My heart goes out to anyone that loses a pet, no matter how....Give your baby lots of love!
