A couple of months ago I met Debbie Guardian. I had responded to a Ladies Who Launch group email posting about Twitter. She contacted me (because I am also a social media coach) to talk about social media needs for her business, Opie and Dixie. We chatted on the phone and set up a breakfast meeting. She picked a French place (…I know!). Breakfast turned into lunch, lunch would have turned into dinner if my husband hadn’t needed to be picked up (we share a car). We talked and talked and talked! It was like I knew her 10 years – we had so much in common, I instantly loved her!
She has a wonderful little business that she does on the side (like me) and still manages to devote a ton of time to her dogs, Opal (Opie) and Dixie. In fact her business came out of her love for her girls. She feeds them home prepared foods (so dedicated!) for her lovelies. She includes vitamins and nutrients as well. Now that I am also feeding Jessica a more organic, all-natural diet regime myself, I am more interested in her products than ever.
I had dim sum with Debbie yesterday, which turned into a 3 hours gabfest, I can’t help it, she is like a long lost BFF! We were talking about work and pets and blogging. I talked about my biz and Misadventures and how popular the giveaways that I had been doing lately were, and you know what she did? She gave me some of her products to give away! Not to get all QVC on your ass, but the products are worth $70!! I said, “thank you so much, that is so sweet.” Ok..I really said, “hell yeah!” Isn’t that cool??
Debbie blogs too and has great articles on pets, pet care, nutrition, etc. Although Debbie does not often blog about her own products (she leaves that to other people via testimonials, etc) one of my very favorite posts happens to be about her shampoo product. I don’t want to embarrass her, but Debbie has recently been going through chemo for breast cancer, so she lost her hair (although she has a KILLER wig exactly like the hair style I was trying to grow out, which turned out to be a massive fail). The treatments were making her scalp itchy and she was so desperate that one night she used her Opie and Dixie shampoo on herself and it worked! [I told her she should start selling her shampoo as human shampoo!]
Her products are 100% natural, manufactured in the U.S. She has very carefully perfected the formula and she is a stickler for quality. You can read all about it on her website. I am really stoked about them. And I am thrilled to giveaway a prize pack (now I sound like Publisher’s Clearing House!) of her four products (which totals $70!) This is what is includes:
Herbal Shampoo |
So to win this Opie and Dixie prize pack, here is what you have to do:
- Debbie recently moved her blog and had to re-enter it all from scratch onto her site, so she lost all her comments, so let’s go give her some comment love! Go to the Opie and Dixie blog and leave a comment (a real one, not spam or anything
like that) on any post that you like. - Then enter the url of the post you left a comment on Opie and Dixie into the comment of THIS post here.
I am giving you extra time since (a) there are 2 steps and (b) it is such an expensive prize. So do those two steps by Friday, July 17th at 11:55 P.M. PST and I will chose a winner with Random.org on Saturday, July 18th.
Normally I don’t restrict my winners to the U.S. only, but for this one I have to (sorry). [But hey, even if you aren't in the U.S., go give Debbie some comment love!].

isn't it so amazing when you meet someone and it's just like you've known each other forever. that's happened to me a couple of times and it's such a fabulous feeling.
debbie's website and products look wonderful. i am very much into natural things for my pets as well as myself. i have two pets that are getting older and want to keep them around as long as i possibly can. i read on debbie's blog that one dog died at the ripe age of 29 and that gives me some hope and reassurance that it is possible.
love your little story here

I'm glad you enjoyed my posts. I usually stay in Nags Head or Hatteras, but before this past weekend, I hadn't stayed in Hatteras since I was about 12 years old. (The house they filmed Nights in Rodanthe is right down the road from where we stayed, marked off with caution tape, of course!) We stayed in a house David's dad's friend Earl owns. He owns a bunch of them on the oceanfront in Avon, a small town in Hatteras. Rent for a week on the one we were in is around $1200. There were also about eight people in that house, including me, so split between all of us wasn't a bad price. It's definitely worth it. I hope you get the chance to visit sometime. North Carolina is a beautiful state. So is Virginia; if you like the small-town atmosphere, you'd like Williamsburg and New Kent, where I live. The New Kent Winery just opened up, and for a $5 wine tasting, it's definitely worth a visit. : )
I love meeting new people who turn out to be the most amazing friends! I commented:

What an awesome giveaway. That is a really neat blog. I love those products.
That line about QVC made me laugh.
Thanks! I have never had dim sum. Reading about how much you enjoy them makes me want to try it. I don't know where I'll find that in my town though, haha. We're very small here.
