Struck down in plime of libe

I have told you before, I am a huge unapologetic fan of Friends. I loved that show. My husband and I have all 10 years on DVD and we pull out once a year and watch the whole series back-to-back. We know a lot of the dialogue too, it is that sad.

I’ve been sick. Real sick. I came home last Thursday with a raging fever, aches and chills. I went to bed assuming I had caught some one’s flu either on the plane home or at work. But then all day Friday and all day Saturday happened with me curled up in a ball in bed changing my clothes every two hours because I had sweated through them. And that left me time to think during those brief moments I was not asleep. What if is was more than the flu? I had also had a nagging back ache most of the week, and the fever was just not breaking.

I did what any child of my generation would. I pulled out my iPhone and went to visit Webmd.com, who else? I filled in kidney infection into the search form and self-diagnosed. I had nearly all of the symptoms so I was pretty confident, and I told my husband I would need to go to the doctor on Monday – I did not feel it justified an emergency room visit, although as I slept with a pillow wrapped around my head on Sunday because I had someone (I pictured as the Joker, either Jack of Heath) playing with electrical wires who was touching my heading in different spots randomly for the better of 5 hours, I questioned this decision!

Went to the doctor Monday, I have an infection, a bad one, they don’t know what kind yet, I took tests, it takes three days to get the results (seems slow huh?) but since my symptoms are so severe (their words not mine) they gave me a super-mega antibiotic to take until they see if need additional medications.

NaBoPloMo streak of 4 months is toast. The only reason there were posts for last Friday and Saturday was because I had pre-written and scheduled them during my lunch hour on Thursday. I had happily munched on my husband’s pea soup preparing the posts which would leave me the weekend of work on vacation posts. I say happily because (a) my husband’s soup is awesome; (b) my husband’s soup is very Weight Watchers friendly, I am back on the wagon because I had a little too much fun with all those wonderful meals while on vacation, whiCH, YES, I KNOW I HAVE NOT TOLD YOU ANY OF THEM YET and (c) was totally unaware what was going to happen in 5 hours (a.k.a. when the illness struck).

So today is my first day back at work, back to the land of the living and first day back to Misadventures. I have once again not been diligent in my duties as give-away hostess. Normally I should have announced the Pretty In Plaid winner on Saturday, but today will to do. I had 25 commenters (the most in any one post – wow!) Random.org says the winner is: 23
and that is: Belinda from The Bird Cage [Belinda, I will send you an email for your mailing address]. Congrats!

I have a couple of more book giveaways, cute things I have picked up in the last month, so stay tuned!

Vacation stories are on their way!

Next time you're sick you should try acupuncture, promise it will help!!! Glad you're back to work and I hope you continue to feel better.

Btw, Friends is a fab show. I cried on the series finale. :)

OMG! The past few days I started to notice you weren't posting and thought to myself something must be wrong. Sounds like you may have picked up some kind of nasty virus from work or your travels. I will keep my fingers crossed that it's "only" that and nothing serious. I guess it's a good sign that you are back at work. Take it easy and feel better!

I thought the exact same thing! When you weren't popping up in my reader I did think something was up.

I am glad you are feeling better :)
