My nightstand is a rollin‘ this month! As I write this, I am currently on a cruise boat. As a reminder, 5 Minutes for books is a community of people who love books and reading. As reading is one of my passion, I decided to participate in their FOURTH Tuesday of the month happening which is ‘What’s on Your Nightstand?” Although you can always see what I have just completed reading and what I currently have on my slate, this post allows me to give a little more detail.
The inspirational book: If You Want to Write: A Book about Art, Independence and Spirit by Brenda Ueland. I am still plugging away at this one, reading about a chapter a week. It is very deep and insightful, I often find myself having to re-read paragraphs, but I think that it because I usually read it before I go to sleep
The I-must-read-as-a-result-of-an-inspirational-keynote-speech book: The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Timothy Ferriss. I completed reading this and was stimulated to try some of the ideas he recommended, including a virtual assistant. I am in the middle of that experiment now. Mr. Ferriss is very enthusiastic in his writing as well as straight-forward. I recommend this book if you are looking for an alternative lifestyle – he makes it look achievable!
The I-am-on-vacation-and-finally-get-to-read-these-books-for-fun-books: Book 2 of Twilight series, New Moon by Stephenie Meyer; Book 3 of the Twilight series, Eclipse; Book 4 of the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn. I also have Jen Lancaster’s second book, Bright Lights, Big Ass: A Self-Indulgent, Surly, Ex-Sorority Girl’s Guide to Why it Often Sucks in the City, or Who are These Idiots and Why Do They All Live Next Door to Me? and her third book, Such a Pretty Fat: One Narcissist’s Quest To Discover if Her Life Makes Her Ass Look Big, Or Why Pie is Not The Answer. Between two 10-hour plane trips and seven days on a boat I will get through them all! Happy, happy!
Did not touch this month, but still sitting on my nightstand:
The I-cannot-read-for-more-than-one-hour book: We’ll Always Have Paris: American Tourists in France since 1930 by Harvey Levenstein. This is like ready a history book back in high school. It is very interesting but very dry. I have to read it in hour spurts after that I fall asleep!
So that is what is on my night stand. Stay tuned for next month to see what my night stands looks like then!
